Over 35 miles of roadways in the Whitehouse area are cleaner now thanks to 270 participants of the annual “Don’t Mess With Texas Trash Off” and “Great American Clean Up”, organized by Keep Whitehouse Beautiful.  This is an increase of some 100 participants over last year!  A total of 241 trash bags of debris were collected this year, which is a 15% increase from last year. Once again many unusual items big and small were picked up and totaled some 5,000 lbs for an increase of 42% from last year. Participating Teams make all the difference! Participating teams in the community came from as follows:  Whitehouse United Methodist Church, Brookshires, Southside Bank, Girl Scout Troop 1466, American Heritage Girls Troop 1524, Whitehouse YMCA, Brown Elementary National Honor Society, Bethel Bible Church, Whitehouse Church of God in Christ, First Ladies Drill Team at Whitehouse High School, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Church Under a Bridge Tyler, UT Student Chemistry ACS, Holloway Builders Club, Whitehouse JHS National Honor Society, Cain Elementary K Kids, Brickstreet Pharmacy, Whitehouse Chamber of Commerce, Smith County Trustees, the neighborhoods of Richland Hills and County Road 15. Thanks to WISD Superintendent Dr. Christopher Moran for participating.

Keep Whitehouse Beautiful offers special thanks to our sponsors and business friends who provide in kind and monetary donations for the Trash Off as well as for other projects and events KWB leads throughout the year. Thanks to their donations KWB was able to provide at the Trash Off t-shirts, coffee, water, lemonade, breakfast bars, and Little Caesars Pizza. Brookshires provided water. Coupons from Burger King, Dairy Queen, Chick-Fil-A, McDonalds, Dairy Queen, and Church’s Chicken were also distributed. The Chick-Fil-A mascot cow was also a big hit greeting the volunteers. The Ranch 104.1 provided radio coverage. Republic Services donated the trash roll-off for the event.  Take advantage of their curbside recycling in the City of Whitehouse!
