2017 Keep Whitehouse Beautiful “Don’t Mess With Texas Trash Off” another annual Success!

The roadways in the Whitehouse area are cleaner now thanks to 176 participants of the annual “Don’t Mess With Texas Trash Off” and “Great American Clean Up”, organized by Keep Whitehouse Beautiful.  A total of 276 trash bags of debris were collected this year.  Once again, many unusual items were picked up. Items ranged from car bumpers to credit cards and with the most unusual item being a pineapple!  All this trash totaled some 5,800 lbs.

Participating teams make all the difference!  Teams participating from the community included:  WHS Key Club, WHS National Honor Society, WJHS Builders Club, Yarbrough Lane and County Road 15 neighborhoods, Boy Scout Troops 248 and 359, Pollard UMC, Proforma Horizon Total Source and Smith Co. Sheriff’s Office & Trustees.  Also, participants from Adopt-a-Hwy and Adopt-a-Road groups:  Southside Bank, Whitehouse Church of God in Christ, Whitehouse United Methodist Church, UT Student Chemistry ACS, First Ladies Drill Team at Whitehouse HS, Mt Carmel Baptist Church and Church Under the Bridge Tyler.   New participant this year:  WHS “Say What Program” picked up over 700 butts in just 45 minutes and marked each location with red flags at City Park and along FM 346.

Keep Whitehouse Beautiful offers special thanks to our sponsors and business friends who are listed elsewhere on this page and provide in kind or monetary donations for the Trash Off and other projects and events KWB leads throughout the year. In addition, coupons from Burger King, Dairy Queen and McDonalds were also distributed. The Chick-Fil-A mascot cow was a big hit greeting the volunteers.
