Keep Whitehouse Beautiful invites you to be a part of the largest one day clean-up event across America, the annual:
“Don’t Mess with Texas Trash-Off”
Event times: 8:00 a.m.–12:00 Noon on Saturday, April 8, 2017
Volunteers across America will be removing litter from our roadways and parks. Each year Whitehouse area churches, businesses, community leaders, neighborhoods, concerned citizens, scouts, and student groups, assist in the removal of thousands of pounds of litter and debris.
Meet us at the Whitehouse City Park on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 8:00 a.m.
All participants get breakfast in the morning and pizza after the pick-up.
A group photo of all the volunteers will be at 8:30 a.m., and all teams on the road by 9:00 a.m.
First 300 volunteers will receive a Trash-Off t-shirt!
The annual citywide garage sale is scheduled for Saturday, October 22nd!
Residents can sign up for a garage sale by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org . Please include your address, and any key items of interest and your hours open.
Last fall, we had over 60 sales participate and we expect more this year!
You hold the sale, and we do the advertising for you! We will have posts on Craigslist, radio ads, articles in the Tri County Leader and on our facebook and website pages. We will publish the list of garage sales in the Tri County Leader the Thursday before the sale. We will also have a current list on our website.
Come have some fun with us and see what we are planning at our next monthly meeting! We meet at 12 pm at the Whitehouse YMCA on the second Monday of each month.
Keep Whitehouse Beautiful awarded the Outstanding Yard for March 2016 to Margaret Higgs for her beautiful yard at 301 Senter Avenue in Whitehouse. Margaret is pictured with her daughter Nancy Gibson in front of this lovely garden filled with colorful plants. She received a $25 gift certificate from Senters Nursery, which sponsors this event. Congratulations Margaret and Nancy! Thank you for keeping Whitehouse beautiful!
Earlier this year Keep Whitehouse Beautiful awarded the Whitehouse Firestation and Chief Madison Johnson $200 for a beautification project at the front of the station. They chose to build 2 wood planters to put at the front entrance and planted 2 small evergreens in them. Another project in the works is the planting of rosebushes in the front of Municipal Court which should be complete by the end of fall.

The City of Whitehouse has changed its provider for Waste Management to Republic Services beginning May 1st. Residents within the City are being notified of this change with an informational packet that is being mailed this week with the City utility bills. All City of Whitehouse residents will receive a 95 gallon cart for their trash pickup. Carts for trash pickup will be delivered the last 2 weeks of April. A map of the City trash pickup dates is also in the informational packet, and a larger map will be at City Hall for those wishing to see what day their trash pickup will be. All waste must be bagged and placed in the cart, and carts must be placed at the curb no later than 7am on the day of pickup.
Along with trash pickup, they also offer curbside recycling. All residents within the city are encouraged to sign up for curbside recycling by sending in their form that is attached to the informational packet, or dropping it off at City Hall, or calling 903 586-1449. Residents who sign up for curbside recycling will receive a recycling cart with a LIGHT BLUE lid. This cart is strictly for recycling and trash is not to be placed in it. A flyer listing the items available to recycle is part of the informational packet. WEDNESDAYs will be recycle pickup day.
Twice a month, on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays, a BULK ITEM pickup collection will be provided. BULK ITEMS are things too bulky for your waste cart, such as sofas, mattresses, other furniture, grills, etc. Up to 2 bulk items can be picked up each time. Items not accepted are appliances containing freon (fridges), batteries, free liquids and hazardous materials. If you plan to have a BULK item picked up, you MUST call Republic Services to schedule your pickup at 903 586-1449.
Along with the BULK item pickup, residents in the City can bring up to 3 cubic yards (a pickup truck load) of waste from their homes one time each month to the Greenwood Farms Landfill at 12920 FM 2767 in Tyler. Residents must bring a current Whitehouse utility bill receipt, and picture ID. All loads must be tarped according to State Law. The landfill hours are: Mon-Fri 6:30am until 4:30pm and Saturday 6:30am until 1pm.
